The Rain Sensor
The DryLanai® Rain Sensor is a clever little battery-operated device that sits on the floor of your outdoor living space and looks for rain. The first rain drop that strikes the front surface of the Rain Sensor triggers a radio frequency (RF) signal that tells the shutter motor controls to lower your storm shutters.
You will need one Rain Sensor for each screened exposure of your outdoor living space; that is, if you have exposures to the south and west, you need two sensors, one facing each direction. If you have exposures to the south, west and north, you need three sensors.

Features
DryLanai Rain Sensors are:
- Compact. They are six and a half inches tall, four and a half inches in diameter at the base. They don’t take up much space.
- Portable. You can locate your Rain Sensors anywhere in your outdoor living space that is out of your way and in a good position to detect incoming rain.
- Attractive. They have a sleek, high-tech look. The molded ABS enclosure is smooth, easy to keep clean and won’t turn yellow, even after many seasons in the sun.
- Discriminating. Only real droplets will activate DryLanai Rain Sensors. They are not fooled by fog or dew.
- Reliable. Each DryLanai Rain Sensor comes with a CR123 lithium battery which, under ordinary conditions, will last up to five years. And to make sure you don’t get caught in the rain, the Rain Sensor’s battery monitoring feature will automatically lower your storm shutters when its battery needs replacing and let you know it’s time to get another one.
- Approved by the Federal Communications Commission. DryLanai Rain Sensors comply with all applicable FCC regulations.
